Plantation Sector

CRITERIA/ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT OF FOREIGN WORKERS IN PLANTATION SECTOR
1. APPLICATIONS SHOULD MEET THE FOLLOWING CONDITION
i. Owner of plantation/farm land; or
ii. Lesen of plantation/farm land
iii. Type of cultivation or nursery: oil palm, rubber, cocoa, jati/sentang or other species of forest cultivation.
2. PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Application to be submitted with the following documents in duplicate:-
i.  List of supporting documents to be attached:
- Copy of land grant certified as true by Land Office
- Copy of Lease Agreement (duly stamped) plus copy of landowner¡¯s grant certified as true by Land Office
- Company Registration Certificate (form 24 & form 49) or Business Registration Certificate
- Copy of the relevant licence, eg licence by MPOB (palm oil), LGM (rubber), and LKM (cocoa)
ii. Submit the following essential details:
- Type of cultivation
- Land area
- Ownership
- Human resources information
- Requirements
- Currently filled posts
- Number of persons applied for
- Source country
APPROVAL CRITERIA FOR FOREIGN WORKERS
The number of foreign workers approved shall depend on 2 factors ie land area and number of existing (local and foreign) workers
Total posts approved = number eligible  ¨C  number of existing workers< /STRONG >
8 hectares of oil palm  :  1 worker
4 hectares rubber  :  1 worker
3.6 hectares of cocoa  : 1 worker
2.5 hectares of forest cultivation  : 1 worker
15 hectares of Jati/Sentang cultivation  : 1 worker

Nursery Site
20 hectares of oil palm plantation  :  1 worker
2 hectares of oil palm  : 1 worker
1 hectare of nursery for other types of cultivation  : 1 worker

A. MINIMUM AREA TO QUALIFY FOR APPLICATION FOR FOREIGN WORKERS
Oil palm: 5 hectares
Rubber:  2 hectares
Cocoa: 3 hectares
Forest cultivation: 2 hectares
Jati/Sentang cultivation: 9 hectares
